Born with a low self-esteem and self-confidence,

I choose to believe in myself.

Going through the bullying culture in school/college,

I choose not to lose faith in myself.

Girls making out with jerks just to get a status,

I choose not to treat myself like that.

In spite of being considered as an out-low,

I choose to believe in ‘the good’ inside me.

In spite of being in an abusive relationship in past,

But I choose to be ‘a survivor’ not ‘a victim’,

I choose to struggle through the dark,

I choose the path that is most difficult,

Because I choose not to give up on me.

Some days were really bad and depressing,

But I choose to just keep going.

Passing through the tunnel of darkness,

I choose to be the light.

Danger is real, but fear is a choice,

So, I choose to be fearless.

Eventually, situations were never under my control,

The only thing in my hands is “my mind”

So, I choose to focus on myself,

I choose to fight back,

I choose to stay positive,

I choose to work on myself,

I choose to be a better version of myself,

Because, I choose ‘myself’ over the situation.

From whatever I have been trough,

I choose to be happy now.

Extract: In ancient world people fought for their basic rights, but in the new modern world people would have to fight with their own demons. It is a constant struggle that every individual is entitled to go through – to fight their demons that dwell inside them. Its our thoughts of self-doubt and self-devaluation when someone judges us, criticize us, bully us. What if we choose to fight back for that?? What if we choose never to doubt ourselves?? What if we choose to never devalue ourselves?? Its hard to keep hustling/struggling, but its much harder to live with those thoughts. It feels much heavier to carry those thoughts, but it feels much lighter to just let it out. At the end of every bad day or moment, what if we choose to not give up or try the same thing in a different way next morning?? Life is a journey which has to be completed anyway, why can’t we try to stay positive through the journey/process?? If fear is a choice, what are we afraid off?? If failure is a stepping stone, why can’t we accept a failure?? Instead of focusing why it all went wrong, why can’t we focus on what went wrong?? Instead of complaining, why can’t we focus on taking responsibility and fixing things?? life is too short, instead of running after what doesn’t matter, why can we run after what actually matters??
